I have a Matrox G550 card which is not a game card but is still very fast for this kind of work and it just seems very slow using Linux. Printing was another area that didn't work too well. EXE does not seem to work. Renaming MOZILLA.EXE to MOZILLA.CMD.EXE works, but is, of course, redundant. Another trick, that can work, is to call CMD. All of this can perhaps be remedied by making Java142 the default by reinstalling it, but I forget now if that is an option during installation.

Install of PCMCIA Netgear NIC Card
Had to run the updates over a dial up connection - that took all night, but that's what they make sleep for, right? Forgot to pull down the NVidia update. Rats. You have to override it to install the 16 bit version. What happened was that I had dual boot, 3.1 and 98. Spent most of my time in 3.1 but still wanted to read my mail in 98, so I wouldn't have to rush back. So I just made an icon that pointed to the files on the 3.1 partition. One important thing I left out was - on the pdf file on the install CD, it said at the top "Radeon 9800" so maybe the CD is for the wrong drivers since I have a 9000 Pro, but I thought maybe it used the same drivers. Also, I downloaded new drivers (Catalyst) from ATI site, but they don't seem to work either.
